Workflow
Write a delegation brief that can be merged
An original worksheet for dividing a research question into independent assignments and defining what a usable return must contain.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Parallel research needs clear ownership and evidence contracts before it needs more workers.
Read the architectural limit
Anthropic’s archived announcement links to its multi-agent research engineering report. The report describes an orchestrator-worker pattern and distinguishes tasks that benefit from parallel exploration from work with tightly shared context or dependencies. These are the organization’s engineering observations. They do not establish that adding agents will make an arbitrary coding or research task faster, cheaper or more accurate.
Split by answerable question
Take a comparison of three public documentation approaches. Give each worker a distinct question, an allowed source set and the same evidence fields: claim, direct URL, version, limitation and unresolved contradiction. Name who owns shared files or the final synthesis. Ask workers to return evidence and disagreements, not a polished verdict that hides how they reached it.
Define the merge rule
Before dispatching work, decide how duplicate sources will be collapsed and who resolves conflicting definitions. Set a stopping condition and reserve time for one reviewer to inspect the important claims. The original downloadable brief makes those choices explicit. No multi-agent benchmark was run for this resource. A useful first result may be recognizing that the question is too dependent to split cleanly.
Put it to work.
- Assign distinct questions.
- Specify return evidence.
- Protect shared-file ownership.
- Reserve synthesis review time.

CooScope — Research delegation brief Original worksheet informed by Anthropic’s engineering report. Shared question: [question] Worker assignment: [independent subquestion] Allowed sources/actions: [scope] Owned output: [artifact] Return for each material claim: [claim, direct URL, version/date, limitation] Stop condition: [budget or evidence threshold] Dependency requiring handoff: [condition] Merge owner: [person] Conflicting-source rule: [rule] Limit: splitting work does not establish speed, savings or correctness.
